Development of cost-effective adsorbents and water filter cartridges for risky drug residues (2020-1.1.2-PIACI-KFI-2021-00309)

Project description:
In modern adsorption operations, one of the main goals is to increase the efficiency of adsorption and/or the selectivity of the adsorbent for a particular adsorbate. Modifying the adsorbent can result in the possibility of new adsorption interactions. In this ongoing project, during adsorbent development, the research group conducts targeted surface modifications that make the adsorbent suitable for the selective removal of specific micropollutants. Additionally, in line with the principles of the circular economy, environmentally friendly, waste-based, so-called low-cost (cost-effective) adsorbents are examined for the sequestration of various micropollutants (e.g., pesticides).
