Partnership meeting

In November 2025, the partnership meeting of the Interreg project PharmWater was held in Hungary, organised by the University of Pannonia. The aim of the project is to investigate, monitor and support the removal of pharmaceutical residue pollution appearing in cross-border surface watercourses through the optimisation of advanced wastewater treatment technologies.

During the meeting, the project partners reviewed the professional results achieved so far and coordinated the tasks for the upcoming period. Particular emphasis was placed on assessing the condition of cross-border watercourses, preparing and evaluating sampling activities, and developing technological solutions that may contribute to the more effective removal of pharmaceutical residues from wastewater.

One of the main objectives of the PharmWater project is to contribute to the protection of surface waters in the Slovenian–Hungarian border region, with special regard to pollution originating from pharmaceutical active substance residues. These substances may pose environmental risks even at low concentrations, which is why their investigation and removal are becoming increasingly important tasks in water management and environmental protection.

The partnership meeting held in November provided an excellent opportunity to share professional experiences, present the progress achieved so far, and coordinate future joint work.
